    Default Rolling D shape Wire

    Hi,

we have just purchased a Durston rolling mill, we are managing to roll square and rectangle wire without problems. Yet we are struggling to roll D shape from ingots, the ingot moulds all seem to be to big and when we try to roll the D shape they do not fit into the mills grooves. any ideas how we can achieve rolling D shape?

    Help would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

    Stuart

Could you reduce it in size using round rollers then (after annealing well) put it into the D shape?

Unfortunately the mill we bought doesnt have round wire grooves im thinking i may have to reduce the wire too thin square then put it in the D shape. this may work otherwise i am going to have to purchase some drawing plates.

Ps thank you for the idea, just hope it works on square. Ah jewellery making wouldn't be as much fun without all the hiccups and issues along the way.
