    Default Jewellers bench

    Hubby is going to make me one but can you tell me how deep the cut out should be please? We keep argueing about it

    Personal preference!

    I don't feel mine is deep enough - and I made it semi-circular, so a bit wider than it is deep would be nice (i.e. oval). It would also give me more storage space for hanging tools around it.

    Recommendations vary from 24-38 inches wide by 11 deep, down to only 4" deep (The Jeweler's Bench Book, Lewton-Brain)

    You're the one who'll be sitting at it, so go for what is comfortable. You can always cut more off, sticking it back again is more demanding.

    Thanks Peter... might help hubby to listen to me... he was talking about a 6" recess but I don't think it's enough

    Hi Lyn, I had mine made for me and the recess is 12" there is a photo somwhere in the workshop thread.

    OK I give up... how do I find the workshop gallery? Found the link to albums at the top but can't get any further
