Oh, I didn't realise that it was coloured wire either. What a perfect match and how very original.

I am really glad that you like it.

The brooch is a penannular brooch and they have been used from the bronze age forward although the Saxons and Norse are particularly known for them.

It is crocheted enamel wire (worked in the round) purl stitch. Then it is mounted onto silver.

Not much else to say but glad you liked it

Oh yes it came from Shetland (not western isles) sorry to be pendantic

I'm hoping for world peace but I'd also like something shiny as well...

I realised immediately after I had written that I'd dropped a goolie But it really does have a touch of the ancients about it.

I love ancient artefacts and symbols - very into the Ogham, celts and druids and all that - so it is uncannily suited to me.

    Thank you, Sheltie.

Yeah, I found being perfect a tad boring, Lesley, so every now and then I drop - well, maybe not a goolie as such but, you know...

I love all that ancient stuff too. You can see a lot of it in the V&A jewellery room, and some at the British Museum. I feel very lucky to live in London, and be able to see these things in person.

It's lovely Sheltie. It's very original, and I bet Di will get a lot of admiring comments.
