    Default Bench Pegs

I feel a bit embarrassed asking this but I just want to check ...

What specifically is the bench peg used for?

I see also that you carve it yourself to suit your needs so does anybody have any advice about the best way to start it off, should I just carve a small slice in the middle or to the side ...

Oh dear - I am such a beginner

I use it for just about anything and everything from holding work on to pierce it or drill it to using the block part for most of my hammering and wedging things up against while setting stones, i started with a "v" cut out of centre but now has cuts and holes all over the place!! lol x

I got the bench peg and anvil (I think that was what its called) the one that clamps onto a bench and I'm pretty sure you can get replacement pegs for them anyway - just incase we slice them all wrong!

Heehee! I got a bench peg and anvil from cookies too. It was so lovely and new I didn't want to cut into it! Now I'm cutting as and when I need to. It's very useful to have v's in

The bench peg usually sits in the middle of your bench and is used for just about everythink, you need to cut a 'v' in it so you can saw pierce so the blade goes through the 'v' and the metal sits on the rest of the peg, you use it also as a butt to rest coils, wire etc and your fingers while holding metal on.
