DSLR Cameras

Having been having a struggle with my little cybershot for getting close up, hubby said about looking for a new camera. I just wondered if you could give me some advice about what to look for in terms of lens sizes and technical stuff please

If you don't want to go down the whole dslr route, the Panasonic Lumix midrange get consistently superb reveiws. Actually, I wonder at times why I bother with my dslr (and the endless setups and lens changes) when I see the quality of pictures my sister gets with her Lumix.

That said, most of the cybershot range take great macro pictures - which one have you got? It may just be a question of adjusting the settings a bit.

why not pm alan...I have seen the camera he uses, and its not a dslr...but it puts those pro looking pics on his geti site.
It does have, however, a 3 grand lightbox attatched......which goes back to what we discussed about it being the lighting, with digital photography.
Alans product shots are great, and he does them himself, so he's your man.......!

Su you might remember that back in September time or thereabouts I bought my OH a Canon EOS 1000D. We had always had manual SLRs but hadn't gone down the digital route. I had owned a Nikon Coolpix for a few years, that's all. He was lusting after a DSLR and his excuse was taking pics for my site.

Well - the Canon is superb (we always had Canons) BUT all my pics have been taken with the Coolpix and then 'doctored' using the MS Office Picture Manager that came as standard with Vista and MS 2007.

The attached pic is an example of its work.

My little camera is simply point and shoot but it has various modes for different light sources and a macro mode. I use a decent light set up, which makes a world of difference but, if you don't want to spend a fortune you don't have to.

The Coolpix range start at about 99 quid. I'm not suggesting that's what you get - but something more up to date and with around 10 megapix in the compact digital range is probably all you need.

Where is boo with all this photography talk going on ?? Her pics are so so amazing.... I am pleased with my pics at the moment su and i don't have a fancy camera but i did invest in a light box, i can give you the details if you are interested..
