I've been on the hunt for one of these for a while.......but one that's freestanding.
Found plenty with desk clamps but very few that are freestanding and mains operated. Shall I keep trying or just find something heavy on which to clamp it?

I've only seen floor versions with a magnifier on a separate arm, rather than the actual magifying light Lesley - like this
Daylight™ | United Kingdom | Daylight™ at Home | Deluxe Floorstanding Lamp
as opposed to this Daylight™ | United Kingdom | Daylight™ at Home | Deluxe Magnifying Lamp
(which I've just spotted has an optional floorstand, which might do the trick).
I'm sure I read on the forum that someone bought a daylight lamp from Ikea?
I got mine from John Lewis (with magnifier), which has a very heavy base that sits on my desk ('cos I had some vouchers as a gift). From reading your post I am not sure if you want the lamp on your desk or the floor, but hope that helps.

We offer freestanding table top lamps Table Magnifier Lamp - Cooksongold.com or table top bases for some of our lamps with desk clamps Lamp Base, heavy For Table Top Use - Cooksongold.com and Screwdown Lamp Holder Not G Clamp - Cooksongold.com These aren't floor standing though. I hope that helps.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
That deluxe one looks fab, George but I can't countenance paying that much.
I didn't even realise Cooksons sold lamps and there's a couple there that might be just the ticket - thanks Rob.
I'm after something that can sit on a table but also on the floor next to me.
Rather embarrassingly, I do a lot of my not too dirty jobs sat on the floor.
I find it quite comfortable and, as I don't have a worshop or even a shed, it's either that or getting out the workbench thingy in the kitchen.
