Synthetic Mother of Pearl and Synthetic Pearls

Is it possible to buy effective and convincing synthetic pearls and mother of pearl? I have seen plastic pearls that look like plastic, but no convincing examples. I cannot find any artificial mother of pearl at all.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I still have Swarovski pearls from my beading days which look much better than plastic looking ones, but have sat unused in a box for years. Perhaps try searching for those online?
