Default Interested in Commission of Silver Ring?

    Hello,

I am looking for an accomplished jewelry-smith to make a ring I have in mind. I watched some excellent videos from Cooksongold on YouTube, with a young lady making a very similar ring to what I have in mind. I’m tempted to try it myself since I’m a welder by trade but I fear the work is just too delicate for my ability. I’m a bit more comfortable welding 4” pipe!

Please see the attached pdf that contains pictures of what I am looking for. I’m happy to pay half of the cost at commissioning and the remainder upon delivery. I’d like to make it out of sterling silver.

I’d like to see some of your previous work. If you are interested in my project I’ll send you my email address and you can provide an estimate.

Happy to answer any questions. Thank you.

    Hi David -

We're almost entirely UK based here, so there would be logistics issues as well as import/export shennanigans to deal with.
There are a fair few silversmiths a bit closer to you who'd be able to help (and not leave you having to pay import taxes too) - Wes Griffin, for example ( http://www.crashcourseengraving.com/ https://www.instagram.com/griffcustom/ ). He might need persuading to not engrave the thing, granted...

I thought about the international complications too, Peter. Thanks for the tip on Mr. Griffin. I'll follow up.

This would be best done with CAD and casting so fairly straight forward. Hoover and Strong in the U.S should be able to do this for you. You would need to clean up the casting and then you can send it to a setter to put the stone in if you don't fancy trying it. Good luck

The design is so straightforward CAD would be my last port of call. Fabrication or if it really needs to be cast, carve a wax. Tech where it's appropriate.
