    Can our new resident nail expert offer any advice for the deep gouges through my thumbnail where I've not realised I've got to the end of something and carried on sawing?

    Ouch George, get some finger tape!

    I have to say I am forever filing chunks out of my nails though!

    Lol, I always do my nails with my jewellery equipment (shears/files), you can do a great job with the fine grade papers too

    Don't you find your nails totally save your fingers? The amount of times I've sawn deep into my nail only to barely scrape the skin and thought 'That would have been awful if my nail hadn't taken most of the force!'

    lol i have exactly the same, one gauge has now grown to the top and the nail keeps bending.

    wire cutters are great for getting hangnails off
