I recently discovered and then bought the Durston Flaring tool, to make spinner rings.
I've tried it twice so far, with no success.
The last time being on 0.7mm silver 10mm wide, everything annealed, tool held in vice and being very gentle tightening with a spanner, but rather than a lovely even gentle flare it just seems to squash it and I end with up with a cotton reel kinda shape, more pronounced on one side than the other. I gave up and used a the ball pein of a hammer instead.
Has anyone else had problems using one of these, I don't see what else I could do to prevent this?
Appreciate any advice please.
Cheers
