    Default PVA of gassing

A question has been asked on the wood working forum that I am a member of, does PVA off gassing cause gold to corrode, member state that a jewellery box he made and stored 9ct gold rings in resulted in the rings almost disintegrating, caused
by not allowing time for the PVA to off gas. I have never heard of this can any body confirm this.

First thought was it sounds possible, but I don't know if it would do so enough to affect the copper in gold.
