    Default Soldering Gold to Silver….

    Yet another question……
Silver solder or gold solder? This is to attach a small gold pebble onto a silver ring. I’ve done it before but for the life of me I can’t remember how I did it! Anyhow it worked and the pebble hasn’t come off! The difference is that this is a “commission” and I don’t want to “drop a clanger”!

The solder will inevitably spill over a little, but less so if you sweat solder.
In this case it would be easier to clean the gold ball, if necessary, so use silver.
Also opt for easy so as not to disrupt previous solder joints.

Most important is to get the whole piece up to temperature, not just the ball, or it wont join properly. Dennis.

Thanks Dennis. As I was “at my bench” as you replied I followed your advice / instructions and as of now after pickling I have these two rings in the tumbler!
Ps. Hardly any spill over at all.
