Default Soldering very small jump rings closed to very fine chain

Please how do you experts do this without ending up with a small molten blob of silver!? I only have propane torches.

Use a hand held mini torch and easy solder. work in a darkened area.
Use Auflux to minimise movement when heated.

Solder the jump ring with a little excess solder, so that a knob forms.
Lay this on he end of the fluxed chain, and gently reheat with the air slightly reduced until the solder just re-flows. Dennis.

I tend to use a 3rd hand with crosslock tweezers so the chain dangles below the jump ring & I can keep the flame off the chain.

I have tried and it's worked.

Thank Dennis. I will be trying that in the next day or so…..watch the sky for bolts of lightening and rolls of thunder, if I melt yet more fine chain!

Chacun à son goût! Yes each way works after a little practice. Dennis’s is great when the link is so small you can’t get the jump ring to “thread”. In all cases I have wimped out and used easy paste solder. The hardest job now is to get a good polish on the heated components……..water soap and brass brush followed by a good rubbing of silver polish? Any advances on that???
Thank you all for your input.
