    Smile Hi

Hi there, thanks for adding me to the forum. I'm very much a beginner and I'm concentrating on making rings and pendants from the mountain of seaglass I've collected over the years. I'm trying granulation just now and I've made silver balls from scraps of recycled silver d wire. I'm wondering if you could also use silver plated craft wire or would the mixed metal react when melted? Nice to have a forum fellow jewellery enthusiasts. Cheryl

Hi Cheryl and welcome to the forum. You are of course at liberty to use any metals you have around.
But if you are an aspiring jeweller, you will want to vouch for the constituents of your pieces, and might even want them hall marked.
So the short answer from the jewellers perspective is dont melt in base metals. Dennis.
