    Default Firescoff

Hello everyone! Anybody used this spray? It sounds too good to be true! It is said to replace all fluxes, pickling, and prevent fire scale!
Even if true it could be a tad expensive !

NO I still pickle and I still use flux, I only use Boric acid on Sterling Silver if it is a repair job just as insurance, I am at the stage now where I don't create fire scale, most people I am aware of that use firescoff only use it to prevent Fire scale.

Oh gosh, the more you do the more you realise there is to learn!
I have just started smelting and rolling and that has opened up a whole new realm of research and reading!

As you noted David, its rather an expensive remedy. Being a spray, it can go everywhere its not needed and be quickly used up. So the first thing is to dispense a portion into something small and apply it with a brush.

Its main use is on something you don't wish to repolish, such as adding a jump ring to a new chain. Then no flux, or pickle will be needed. Just a good rinse, dry afterwards, followed by a polishing cloth.

The next time you think of using it, in six months or a year, it might have dried up, so make sure you replace he top.
As Bob has said, it is too expensive for firescale prevention, when Firescoff, or boric acid in alcohol work pretty well. Dennis.
