Default Keum Boo and Platinol - makes the gold look orange/ dirty

Hello, another Keum Boo question. I find when I oxidise with Platinol sometimes the gold takes an orange colour. Weirdly it is not all the time.

I use the 24 carat gold extra thick foil from Metal Clay. co .uk - Approximately 0.014 mm/14 micron.

Any hints or tips to stop this from happening or how to remove it from the gold once applied?

I managed to fix it a little burning by it off with a flame and then with a paintbrush tidying up the oxidised parts of the jewellery piece.

It does darken a bit but should burnish up again or try a rub with a duster. If you don’t want to oxidise at all then use your platinol with a pared down cotton bud or a wooden cocktail stick for more precision
