    Default Starrett dividers

Just got my new starrett dividers, I've been waiting for them for ages but I might have a problem, the legs seem to be out of alignment. Anything I can do or will I have to send them back? They were expensive!

You could straighten them and grind/file the points, although I would send them back there is a principle involved Starrett are not supposed to be low end items and you should get what you pay for

It's possible that they have just become unseated from their spring, Sheena. If a bit of twisting by hand doesn't solve it send them back as Bob Says.
Also there are various cheaper sources for genuine Starrett on line, so if you have paid the top price, here's your excuse to request a refund. Dennis.

Another vote for send it back. I touch up the points on mine periodically (diamond polishing disc), but that's all. From the photos you've posted that looks knackered.

I had a look at this same pair on amazon and I few people are complaining about this same problem. Is this an issue with the design of these. Should I persevere or go with something else?

That's not a design issue... Mine are fine.
Did you buy them from Amazon?

No, from cookson. I was surprised they weren't up to standard. I'm a little bit surprised starrett let them through quality control.

Another vote for a refund. Mine are Moore & Wright and I've had them a few years. I can't remember where I got mine, but have just found these... https://www.mytoolshed.co.uk/moore-w...ider-150mm-6in
