Red face Help with Stone Setting technique!

    Hi there!
I am just starting out on my jewellery journey and have decided I want to try and recreate some earrings that I found in my sister's old jewellery box! The thing is, I can't work out how the pattern on these have been created and then how the stone has been set in them. Any advice?? Any advice at all is hugely appreciated! Picture is below.
    Thanks,
    Helen

Hi Helen, and welcome to the forum.

The stones were set by raising grains with a scorper (graver) also giving rise to the star shape. Only four grains were used and the others cut off.

Not a technique you oud attempt without going on a course, because there is a lot to learn and practice, including making a seat for faceted stones, setting up gravers, raising grains, using grain tools and cleaning up.
The result needs to be perfect, because all mistakes will stand out.

Not something I would do myself, but other members will hopefully join in for further comments.

My advice would be to do something less challenging, like flush setting for this Dennis.
