Hi, this is a good place to learn give us something fiendish to help you with
Maybe not fiendish but has me stumped. How do I work out the dimension for a neck torc/torque. I want to do it in sheet silver rather than twisted wire but don't know how big to make the gap. I think that a neck is more or less round so it's not like a bracelet torc as shown on the cooksons website which relies on the wrist being wider in one dimension than the other. Any ideas?
That sort of torque needs to get past the neck without abrading the skin, so a quick estimate of the gap will be to work out the diameter (width) of your neck.
That is the circumference of your neck, (measured with a tape), divided by 3.14.
It can be held in place either by a chain and fastener, a stout wire like the latch on a gate, or simply by curving over the shoulders on each side.
Alternatively it can be joined at the front with a decorative hook-on pendant. Dennis.
