    Default Hammered Bangle

    Hi,
I'm getting back into silversmithing after an 8/9 year break. I would like to start with a simple hammered bangle or ring, and I have the method jotted down to work out the wire length I need, however my mind needs refreshing. If I am texturing it, it will stretch slightly if I remember, so is there a different calculation I would need for textured pieces over plain?
Any tips would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks

Hi Cat, If you add a hammered texture after forming a band, then that's what you would do to stretch it.
So you can start with it too small and stop hammering when it is the right size. The texturing might not be enough at that point.
So I would suggest you texture first and make the band when you are satisfied with the effect.

I would also start with the ring as it's likely to be easier. Dennis.

Thank you very much Dennis, I will start like that. I wasn't sure if there was a rule of thumb, say, always make 1 size smaller for example if you are going to texture it.
    Many Thanks,Kat
