    I am also a fair novice finding my way and using tools that I have collected over the years. I have a Dremel 300 and use it with a drill press. Yes I quite agree about the difficulty stopping the bit wandering. I have improved it by firstly using separate collets instead of the “universal”. I also start with a really small drill bit and always centre punch it. Yes I hope to update soon so read this post with keen interest.

    It’s not the bit that wanders as I find the universal bit excellent and found the collets never hold the very fine drills I use. I rarely use the proxxon vice now which is what has a tendency to move if not held. As most of my work can’t be held in it, I have gone back to holding work on a piece of wood which doesn’t slide
