Gold plating?

I have the Heimerle - Meule Junior 500 Multiplate Unit and was hoping to get some advice - does anyone else use this unit and can you tell me your process for plating with gold ?

In the instructions it says "After rinsing the good to be coated under flowing water it should be dipped
into a solution of 10 % sulphuric acid and 90 % demineralised water(= Acid
dip treatment). "

Can I just use my normal pickle solution for this part of the process? if not where does anyone get their sulphuric acid from?

I purchase sulphuric by the litre from a garage supplier. I have no idea how easy it is to get hold of in UK.
