    Default Discoloured silver

Hi everyone. A friend of mine has lots of silver jewellery and is wondering if her course of vitamin B12 is causing it to turn very dark in a short time. It does clean up but has anyone heard of this or suggest a solution.
    Thanks

This is always a mystery and the best judge of a change of circumstances is the wearer.
It could be a change of perfume, or cosmetics, cooking or working at something else with low ventilation.
Has she taken up swimming etc etc.
If she thinks it's her food supplements, she could stop them for a few days and find out. Dennis.

Thanks Dennis. I’ll tell her to experiment.

Unless of course her b12 is for medical reasons that are more important than her jewellery turning black

Obviously every one is different I take B12 and wear a Sterling Silver signet ring, it has no effect on the ring.

Thanks for the input. I thought of suggesting Argentium or fine silver but I think it may only delay the tarnish.

Fine Silver is too soft for most jewellery Argentium should be ok, although until the reason for the discoloration is found it too may suffer the same fate
