Another pickle question!

Will any damage be wrought by leaving (by mistake of course!) pieces in the pickle for an hour or so. Got about 2 miles down the road and the old grey matter prodded me casting doubt if I had taken some pieces out of the pickle. I returned home to find I had!

Hi, depending on the pickle used, then an hour or so might cause the piece to become discoloured, but that easily remedied by gently re-heating it to very dull red and re-pickling.
I have read that very long immersion might affect the solder joint. The other point of course is that the water will evaporate if left on. Dennis.

Thanks. Best not to be forgetful. Another item to add to the check list!.....phone, flies done up (for males mainly), car keys, wallet with credit cards and money in it, etc. The list gets longer the older you become!

I remember once I forgot two rings (sterling silver) in the pickle pot for whole weekend. When I pulled them out on Monday and started to hammer on mandrel all the joints broke apart. It was a good lesson for me
