    Default Tumbler and ultrasonic essential?

How essential is a tumbler and ultrasonic machine?
Trying to decide if I need one now or not... Is there other options for polishing and finishing other than these?
    Thanks

You definitely don't need an ultrasonic, until you have large batches to clean. Use water-soluble polishing compounds and clean them off with washing up liquid and a toothbrush.

So that leaves a tumbler (mostly used by amateurs) versus a polishing lathe (mostly used by professionals). I would probably start with a tumbler (Lortone is best) and fine stainless steel mixed shot. Dennis.
