    Default Kiln in Manchester

    Hello All,
First timer here and looking for some assistance is using a Kiln in the Manchester area.

I am trying to flatten some glass and wondering if anyone is firing up a Kiln that I could use the residual heat and of course contribute to beer money!

Can discuss a bit more if there is anyone that would be willing to help.

    Thanks
    Marc

I hope you get a reply, but you might be in the wrong sort of forum. Dennis.

Unfortunately, "residual heat" isn't a terribly good idea with glass. If, for example, you're slumping bottles then it's a full cycle, complete with annealing to avoid any residual stresses in the result. Failing to anneal can result in some spectacular shattering when you remove it from the kiln (BTDT).

Not sure if we have any fused glass workers on here at the moment.

Ahh Ok, so yes I think I want to slump the bottles... to flatten them with keeping some of the relief. Thanks for the response and hopefully I'll eventually find someone who can do it.
