You've finally done it, Nick and as I had hoped, your bezel will more than cover the defect and not leave a dimple.

However, bezel wire as sold is very flimsy and I would cut your own strip from 0.4mm, fine silver sheet.
From the look of your picture it would be about 2.5mm wide and bevelled on the outside top edge before setting.

Don't forget to lay in a long piece of dental floss before trying the stone one last time, because they tend to stick and this will allow you to yank it out. Dennis.

Hi Dennis, Yes , finally got there. Thing is I'm planning on using 0.3mm 18 k yellow gold . Do you think that will survive, and last?

Yes it should be OK. The solder at the base gives it strength and you don't have to press hard just where the ding is. Put a tiny piece of sticky paper with an arrow on the cabochon to remind you. Dennis.
