Hi,
I am reading the directions on Argo-tect and wondering if safety pickle will work instead of the sulphuric acid or whether the acid is necessary.
Thanks a million

Yes it will, but you might need it a bit hotter. Dennis.
Worked a treat - thanks
I mulled over buying a 'pickle heater' container for ages, but at £120 I couldn't help but feel it was astronomically high for what it is!
My solution was a £9 coffee maker with a heated baseplate and it works fantastically!
As everyone is saying, it's imperative that the pickle is kept at a constant hot tempersture although not boiling.

Many of us use a cheap slow cooker which is perhaps more stable
I used cheap slow cookers for years, but eventually the pickle ate through the glaze on each pot, I finally and rather begrudgingly invested in a small purpose built pickle pot and it was a great investment........outlasted the length of time I had all those cheapy pots AND some....they do the job, but I've found it to be time limited.
