I have always fancied having a go at this but not sure i want to spend quite bit of cash on a sinusoidal stake. Does anyone have know if there is anyway of improvising a tool to do the same job?

I use a Chassers/Rapoose (different names, different catalogues) hammer and a flat steel, ignorant me did'nt realise that's what I was doing. The tool looks really awkward I just like bashing away freehand.

I know someone who has stakes that are just U shapes filed into a bit of mild sheet; I've made up several out of Delrin sheet; woodturners bowl turning rests work...
Thanks the U shapes in mild steel sounds good. also the bashing away sound familiar cheers myke
I've only done this on a small scale, and just used a combination of anvil and sandbag. I covet a sinusoidal stake, partly because I find them incredibly tactile, but mostly because I love the name so much
