    well, after much trial and error....

    I used abrasive papers, 3m radial white and yellow, and some liver of sulphur.

    thanks everyone for the suggestions. I think it looks 'aged' now.

    Lovely. Can I ask how you polished back the chain after the sulphur? I've done it by heat previously as I'm terrified of losing a finger using the pendant motor x

    thanks Lydia,

    I used sand paper in cloth form, not sure what it is called. Coarse grit through to medium grit and that was it, well, with a lot of elbow and wrist grease

    I found a tip in an old jewellery book about winding chain around a wooden stick and securing it well with tacks to make using a pendant motor safer, you've probably heard it before but just in case....
