Hi Everyone,
Never belonged to a forum before!
But I have often gleaned useful information from this site - especially about firescale!
Have been trying meths and boric acid coating - better but not eliminated.

Argotect is the traditional remedy, but not popular here, possibly because of the expense, but also because it has been said to give off toxic fumes when heated. Dennis
Hello Snorkmaiden
I've been reading the forums for ages too - and only just started to join in.
I haven't tried a coating to prevent firescale - so far I've been reasonably lucky just trying to be as quick as possible with the torch.

I cover my silver items in auflux which seems to work unless I really mess up and overheat a piece.
I'll give auflux a go.
I'm not going to add to the helpful suggestions, but will just say welcome - and how much I love your choice of forum name (big moomin fans in this house!!)
We share the same fringe ☺️
hi snorkmaiden,
welcome to the forum.
My daughter was reallly scared of little my when she was young - but now she's an adult she calls me moomin mama!
Sorry Joella, logged off for a while. I thought Little My was quite frightening too! Just heard that there will be a special Tove Janson exhibition in London soon.
