Hi there! I'm going to look at a second hand rolling mill tonight and wondered if anyone had any tips for what I should be looking out for? I'm a newbie still and I'm sure I'll forget something!

Look at the rollers and give them a turn looking that they're not pitted.

thanks a lot!
Roll some sheet through once you've done that - see if it curves left or right. If it does, it probably indicates the rolls are out of alignment.
Don't matter how good or bad they are,it depends on the price!! Plus if they haven't got grooves for making wire, then I wouldn't bother is my advice. The first ones i got never had grooves, can you believe it.I ground my own?? I don't believe it myself??
Tell us the price,i cross my heart i wont jump on them if they are for next to nothing
lol thanks guys for the advice! I got it for £100 plus the lady threw in a big bottle of liver of sulpher and a tub of safety pickle, which was handy as i had run out! Didnt tell her tht though lol.
That sounds like a good price,do us a picture so we can be green with envy at the bargain you got.
not had a chance yet, ill see if i can get my camera to play nicely after work today
