I'd like to try something similar myself, though it'd have to be a bit simpler in my case.

Well you'll note there are no fancy mitres- just a butt-join construction, with all the lengths filed square on a filing block and measured with callipers. It was mostly finished on a belt sander, and then a frosting wheel for the sides and a spongy rubbing-down block for the front.

I find lots of Roman and Medieval examples that inspire me and believe it or not, some of these old examples would still look great today imo. Nick
