I have made this silver rose for my sister's birthday, it just needs a final polish up but it's too cold in my workshop today.

Broken heart pendant

OK, with a little encouragement from Dennis (thank you!) here is my design for February.
I've got a bit of a love for vintage treasures so I've used a damaged sterling silver fish knife that was destined for scrap to make a pendant. The stamped detailing leant itself quite naturally to the curvy heart shape and the small flaws it will inevitably retain are I think part of the charm of re-using old things.
Its not quite as finished as I'd hoped to be by now and still needs work on the polishing but overall I'm quite pleased with it so far - my first piece worked in silver.

Silver 'love' necklace, inspired by neon art. Wax carved, cast into sterling silver, then detail plated with rose gold. I keep designing things with really fiddly gold plated detail, then remembering how much I hate painting with stop out varnish!

Lovely to see all this months entries, James, that rose is exquisite !
This is a piece I made for my new collection called ' Nectar for the Soul'
Mixed white, yellow and rose gold with hand carved butterflies, padparascha sapphire and a green sapphire on a pearl and topaz necklace.

This mornings project. I really want to make a lot more pearl designs. These are freshwater pearls with handmade earwires. The hearts were cut with tin snips, textured with a hammer and soldered onto the wires. I'm so pleased with my soldering.

Hi everyone,
Thank you to everyone who entered and contributed to our February love themed competition!
We are pleased to announce that the winner of this month's competition is eekoh with the following entry:
We thought the use of the knife to create something new was a great idea, and loved how you have incorporated the detail on the knife into the curve of the heart. Well done!
Please email competitions@cooksongold.com with your contact details and Cooksongold account number so we can arrange for your prize to be sorted.
Congratulations again!
