Don't take life for granted
Don't know if I am allowed to put this thread on but hey ho I will try. An otherwise ordinary morning, got up fed my three doggies, hubby took them out for a walk. Normally we would go together, but I was waiting for a parcel to be delivered so I stayed home. About fifteen minutes after he had left the house the parcel arrived so I texted him to tell him. Got a reply to say get the kettle on be back in about ten minutes.
After about half an hour I thought he must have got to the seat and stopped to see the view, it was a beautiful morning two weeks ago. There was a bang on the door and a lady from the nursing home a few doors awaygrabbed me and told me to hurry, while someone else put the dogs in the back garden. She said he had fallen, when I got there the ambulance told me he had a massive heart attack. The doc in the hospital said he had died before he hit the ground, they managed to revive him but only for a few minutes. He was 63, so very young. Looking on the positive side, he didn't suffer, but it's left a big hole in my life, and a lot of paperwork to do. Don't feel like making jewellery just yet so I will start posting again when I feel a bit more myself. Xxx

What a terrible thing for you. Platitudes pretty useless and at the moment you are mired in all the paperwork and stuff. Don't know how recent this was but if I can advise on legals etc please do get in touch

Pat, when you can bring yourself to make something again, however small and unimportant, you will have a short respite from your pain. Take care, Dennis.

Thank you for the offer of legal help, had to get a solicitor as we decided about two months ago to sell our rental properties. All have got buyers ready to exchange contracts, then this delayed it all. Luckily all the properties but one were in joint names so death certs sent off, hopefully it won't delay things too much. It was just over two weeks ago. Funeral is tues 8th Nov. So still a bit raw.

Make sure the solicitor is an inheritance tax/probate specialist not a general or land/conveyancer, or consult a specialist inheritance tax accountant.

I'm so sorry to hear this sad news Pat. One really never does know what's around the corner, and as you say, you shouldn't take life for granted. A very similar thing happened to a family friend recently and it is such a shock, I hope you find some peace x x

This is not uncommon, I see it almost daily.
It's very sad as often it's couples nearing retirement who have worked hard all their lives, planned for the future together, one or both of them has just retired and it's all taken away in an instant.
If it has taught me anything - it's live for the present, and never leave home on a bad word.
All the best Pat.
