Woo! even prettier the right way up

I treated myself to this beautiful opal last week. I've wanted to make some jewellery using constellations for a while, and thought showing off the colours of the stone (which I've not enhanced - it's fab) would be perfect for this competition. This is a large pendant (50mm across), which I've textured, and stars from Orion (not all of them) are picked out either as holes, gold or indentations. One is a 1.5mm diamond. The opal is its own little celestial body, and some extra gold meteors are floating by! I frosted the silver before oxidising, to try and get less of a shine on it. The diamond does its own little colour play, but not visibly in the pics unfortunately, and that show-off opal is stealing its thunder anyway. The pendant is on a 1.5mm neck wire, as I thought it best to keep it simple.

Congratulations Carole, it's a beautiful piece and well chosen to represent your style of work. Far from having sold your soul, as you once lamented, you can be immensely proud of your professional status now. Dennis.
