Don't they make trillion collet punches yet?. Anyway I'll have a couple for you being the weekend.

I use snipe nose and round pliers for shaping them and have the stone on blu tack so I can shape around it
Thanks for the advice guys!
I will let you know how it goes
Trillions are the setting I struggle with the most. I love the shape but....
The last one I attempted was turning out fine. I carefully shaped the seat with various burrs, then chipped the stone when fitting (Fire Opal). I must have spent 2 days on and off, hardly daring to breathe. I learnt a lot. Mainly don't bother again - too difficult for a pensioner!!!
Don't be put off Theresa, you just chose one of the most difficult stones to deal with.
Actually the bit I find hardest is getting the damn things centred properly on the ring, mine always seem to end up slightly out.
There is an excellent 5 part instructional video on making a setting for a trillion from Andrew Berry on AtThe Bench if you have membership.

I have just about nailed it I think, it's just in the pot so when it comes out I can double check my joins.
It was a bit of a battle but I think I cracked it.
