Old solder paste
Hi, I have some old solder paste and it seems to just burn and not flow. Seems to be fine with solder and flux, so I don't think it's my technique...but could be.
Does it go bad?
Thanks oh clever ones!

If it can still be extruded from its syringe, it should really work. Paste does become useless if overheated before the piece comes up to soldering temperature, so try heating your piece remote from the solder.
Although it should not really need it, you might also try brushing on a little additional flux.
The unpredictability of paste solder in some situations is why I seldom use it. This of course compounds my problems, because it requires a different set of skills. Dennis.

Yes, I think Dennis has hit the nail on the head. If you direct the flame directly onto the solder, it will burn. You need to heat the whole piece first.

Ok thanks, I thought I was. Will try again!
