I'm thinking of getting another pendant drill for students to use and wonder what people think of the Dremel. It's half the price of the Foredom, but is it half as good?

There's a rather good video review of it on the Cookson feed on Youtube
(and I think someone might now want to lynch me!)

Hi Carole,
I have the Axminster pendant drill with footpedal and am very happy with that. And it's cheap at £100 plus about £30 depending on what hand piece you want.
The forum won't let me post the URL until I have made 5 posts!?.... so just do a search for "axminster flexible drive unit" at Axminster.co.uk

This one - http://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster...ble-drive-unit
I've used it; it's OK, but I utterly loathed the collet handpiece (spanner & pin needed to change bits) - the chuck ones would probably be more sensible.
There are other handpieces available now Peter. It's not a Foredom, but it is a lot cheaper...
Yes, I understand why it stops me from posting URLs, just frustrating when you are used to post on forums like this all the time!

The Foredom SR kit's quite a lot cheaper than every dremel fortiflex I've seen.
A friend of mine has a couple of the Axminster ones, and apart from the horrible handpiece, I thought they weren't bad.

Yeah, I'm with you, I would love a quick change handpiece... it's on the list!

I was sure I saw the Dremel Fortiflex somewhere for £89 but I can't find it now. Maybe the Axminster would be the best bet.
