According to the Cookbook, P2 = Pique 2, but I have no idea what that means
Not a classification I've used before - try here:

(which has some nice pics to back it up)
Toni,
H/i refers to the colour of the diamond, H is on the border of being a colourless stone, the (i) I am not sure of but probably means it is not a perfect (H)in colour.
The P2 is Pique2 which is not a good stone and has many flaws inside it, I never go lower that VS ( very small inclusions) stones but S1 (Small inclusions)are OK.
1pt means 1 point, there are 100 points to a carat. In the trade we refer to stones as pointers, so if I wanted a 2.5mm. diameter diamond I would ask for 6pointers which are diamonds that weigh 0.06ct. or 3mm. diam. stones that are about 10pointers and weigh about 0.10ct.
So the 1pt/1.3mm means this size stone weighs 1% of a carat, so if you bought a carat packet from a diamond dealer you would get 100 x 1.3mm. diam stones.
If you are paying £7 per stone for 1pointers then you are paying £700 per carat, which is quite a high price for P2 stones.
I hope this all makes sense.
James
well you've told me more than i knew originally so thank you
this is really helpful thank you, P1 doesnt look that nice when you see it in a larger picture
exactly what i was after, ive looked around and learnt about the D-K stone colours, and the clarity, but the lowest ive seen on clarity is SI2.
thank you guys this is all very helpful
You're welcome.
Their customer care is great. I'm new to stone setting - so I particularly love the fact that I can be completely clueless about what I need and they help me out selecting a good product, without making me feel like an idiot.
I fancied six 1.25mm pink stones for a ring I was making. They gave me a stack of suggestions at varied prices. I was trying to select a particular shade of pink. They don't have a showroom, but they offered to send six of each of the ones I fancied to a jewellers (which I believe they may own) and I could try them in the setting.
I was well impressed and have been any time I have dealt with them.
