I see in the catalogue descriptions like;
9ct Yellow 13/25 Diamond Curb
9ct Yellow 10/23 Trace
9ct Yellow 25 Spiga
what do these numbers mean and how can i relate the to mm.
i guess that must have been one of the days i skiped class

Hmm I was wondering the exact same thing whilst trying to pick some trace chain from cooksons the other day. In the end I just went for the cheapest option and hoped it was the same as what I had bought previously

I think Julian the images in the cookbook for chain are shown actual size so can just be measured off the page.

It's the measuring scale used that's confusing as it's an imperial hangover rather than a wire gauge or mm measurement.
The first number represents the diameter of the wire, the second number is the number of links to the inch.
So 18/18 is made from 0.018" diameter wire and there are 18 links per inch.
It's far from intuitive though. I ended up buying a couple of inches of all those I thought might be useful (in sterling obviously!), which I keep in their labelled bags so I know what I'm looking for.
Lol George you are scarily organised :0)
More amazing is all the stuff George knows. By the way Kwant ¿hola, qué tal?
