Looking at a couple of the alloys on the Cooksons knowledgebase, the 18k NF white uses a lot of palladium (13.9%, 3% silver, copper & zinc), while the yellow HB uses 15.97% silver (and copper). Silver is running at around £0.65/g, palladium £15.70/g... Similarly, several of the 9k whites just use more silver than the yellow equivalent. That's just the materials cost - I've no idea what the fashion charge would be for 9k vs 18k, but that may explain some of the dfferences.
