I just had to tell you all my big news today- I have sold my first pieces to a stranger!!!!
Up until today I had only sold work to family, friends and people who knew me through someone else, never to a complete stranger who just happened to like what they saw. I did a small craft fair last year but it was very poor attendance and I only sold to family who knew I was there and it kind of put me off for a bit. I felt I needed to "up my game" make some more unusual work and get a good stock level before I tried again.
Well in the last month I decided to give it another go and applied for some exhibitions and gallery shops and it paid off! I am currently showing work in Open 21 in Leicester City Gallery, a showcase with other members of the Design Factory in the foyer of The Collection in Lincoln and I have a trial period over Xmas stocking Artfull Expression in the Jewellery Quarter!!!
Last week I had an enquiry through my website from someone who saw my work at Open 21 and today I sold him two pieces!
IM SSOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!
Its taken two long years to get to this point and it has come just at the point where I had decided after Xmas that I should get a job until the economy picks up a bit, but now Im ready to go again! I dont get onto this forum as much as I would like as my computer is in the house where as the workshop is in the garage, but I have read about many of us getting a bit down lately, things going wrong and shows not being as profitable as we would all like. I just want to say Dont Give Up! I know I have a lot more hard work to do and one sale doesn't mean that I wont still have to get that job, but it's given me hope and I wanted to share it with you all in return for the all the advice, the community spirit and the general loveliness that I get from being a (relatively quiet!) member of this forum!
I think thats enough of an essay for now!
