Polishing tumbler
My old leaky tumbler is going to be converted to a walnut shell pearl polisher, so I am in the market for a decent tumble polisher..recommendations? After faffing around with mr leaky for years I want something which will NEVER leak

I bought one from Cookson’s and have never had a leak. It is made by Kimber-Allen and has a screw tightened lid. Excellent so far!!

Lortone all the way for me. Mine has been going strong for more years than I care to remember.
If you can't get one (they're hard to find in the UK at the moment), then anything with a rubber, not plastic barrel (rubber barrels don't need vanes unless you particularly want them) and screw tightened two part lid.

Thanks to both of you. My leaky one was rubber, with vanes but had a lid which just fitted with a flange, so any shot getting in under the lip immediately opened the sluices.
What do you think of this one?

I tried one similar to that Wendy - not mine, I'm glad to say, as I didn't like it at all. Horribly noisy and then it just packed up. Which was a bit disappointing given that it cost its owner quite a bit.

Thanks George. not that one then

As said above lortone the Rolls Royce of tumblers you can buy spare parts for units 25 years old, which I have just done only the second time I have needed spare parts.

Can't find any on sale ..company website says sold out! (of most things, extraordinary!) There do seem to be a lot of rock tumblers - are they what people use?

jewellery tumblers started out as rock tumblers, just depends on what trade your to what you call them

I bought my Lortone3A about 3 years ago from creative glass. It works well, and they have it in stock again:

The are cheaper ones on the web, but buyer beware.
I also bought the extra fine shot, which gives a superior result. Minimum tumbling time 3 hours, but some tumble over night.
