GRS Multi-Purpose vice or GRS Standard Block vice?
Hi there,
I know most jewellers use a ball shaped block vice for stone setting and engraving of small jewellery pieces, rings in particular. But I have also spoken to a couple of jewellers who have GRS Multi-Purpose vice instead and use a GRS ring holder to go with it as well as the GRS 30-piece attachment set. It is not the same set up, but the Multi-vice, even with all the extra bits, works out much cheaper than a Standard GRS block vice + parts. I don't know which to go for, but would definitely want to spend less. Will they both do a similar job? Does anyone out there have experience working with these vices and could share your experience, please. Thanks very much!

The ball vise works better under a microscope and I find it easier to work with. I suppose it depends on your workspace too, I don't have a cutout on my setting bench so the multi vise would stick out to far.
