But surely Nic, when I tried to post quite blandly on this matter I shouldn't have had my post blocked. Doesn't that preclude me from fairly participating on the forum?

Sorry Carole I missed that - quite often the forum software randomly picks things up (especially links).
Was it on this thread? I'll have a look
*edit* Sorry Carole can't see anything in a moderation queue - was it because the post was too short?
Or like I said it might've been a link....

Hooray, I've been able to see the vid now and that's definitely the funniest thing that I have seen throughout the whole election campaign.
How refreshing to see that everyone on the forum seems to be keen to cast their vote, it is brilliant to find people who are passionate about the future of our country and have taken the time to understand the manifestos and political agendas of each party, however if the polls are in anyway accurate it looks like I will be back down to paying 40% tax and hardworking struggling lower paid working families will have to pay for my "pay rise"............... hmmmmmm it's all a bit wrong and worrying , isn't it ?
I don't know why Nic, but the message was along the lines that the post had been blocked until it had been checked by moderators.
Sorry Carole
On a positive note though that's nothing to do with us as moderators or even the Cooksons team
it's probably the automated spam blocking software just getting confused.
Nothing to do with trying to stop anyone fairly participating in the forum & had you left it as is then
one of the mods or admin team would've spotted it and manually allowed the post to show up

I found it pretty offensive as well. The question posed by the thread was whether we were voting, not necessarily how and it seemed terribly divisive for a moderator to post such a politically evangelical message, especially so early in the thread. I know I'm guilty of posting my political thoughts as well (I should have shown the same integrity as George) but it was largely in response to being preached to and also because I am (as everybody knows) very immature
What's this all about? If someone has broken the rules then I think it's best to point it out - this just feels as if we're all being told off in a vague sort of way for not agreeing!!Incidentally the following forum rules apply to moderators too & the Cooksons Admin team are also available via PM:
4. Treat others as you want to be treated, with particular reference to intimidating behaviour which will not be tolerated for the good of the forum.
7. No personal attacks, keep debates about opinions only...

It'll be your foul, sweary mouth, Carole - you really should tone it down.
Now I remember why I hardly post on here any more.
It's quite well known that some people have issues with other people, and they're going to criticise and contradict on principle. I wish it would stop. Exchanges like these often end up as niggly and bitchy which I find both tedious and uncomfortable.
To me - (who's fairly open about everything) asking me whether I'm voting is not that different to asking me what I'm having for dinner.
I didn't dream for an instant that people would think having a viewpoint would be offensive. If people choose to keep their vote private
that's fine too.
Re "the rules" I put them there to remind people that if anyone truly finds me having an opinion offensive then they can speak to another moderator
OR the Cooksons admin team. i.e. It wasn't about anyone else ~ it was about being fair and saying "just because I'm a moderator doesn't mean I don't
have to obey the same rules".
