Default Keum Boo on other metals besides silver?

I've tried my hand at Keum boo lately - but I am curious whether this technique can be used on other metals besides silver. Do you think gilded metal, copper or brass would work for applying Keum Boo to?

You really need colour that will show off the gold, so the other metals will need to be coloured in some way. If you look at Keum Boo in Wikipedia there are some other references to follow up. Lewton-Brain being one of them.

Oh yes I understand what you're saying, I am using copper (actually gilded metal) as accent pieces on a primarily silver piece. I was just thinking it would look more interesting if the accent pieces could look a bit more gold. I'm not sure gold will adhere to other metals the same way though. I've read conflicting info on the internet.

I can't see why it wouldn't work but there's only one way to find out. If you blacken the copper afterwards, the gold would show up nicely.
