While browsing the gem showrooms for inspiration I found these long, faceted briolettes at Holts in Hatton Garden. One pair is of rock crystal and the other onyx
They were already drilled for spikes, so I made some wire work end caps and hung them from studs, which I have found more secure than ear hooks. The studs have tube set CZs and bezel set onyx cabs.
They can be worn as a pair or mixed and matched.
Method:
Both the studs and the caps were made in the flat, by standing a wire upright in a hole in the soldering block and arranging the decorations around it. The decorations were made from small jump rings or sections of larger ones.
After soldering, the wires of the caps were notched on the underside with a burr, so that they could be bent down over the drops.
Length of briolettes 32.0 mm. Diameter of CZs 4.0 mm, onyx cabs 5.0 mm. Round wire used 7.5 mm
Here they are in black and white. Dennis.
