    Default My next project (ring)

Hi all, hope you are all well.
Last year for Xmas I made my girlfreind a ring, through lack of knowledge/research I ended up casting it from a mould only to find out it would of been far simpler to buy wire and solder..
Her birthdays coming up and she's hinted she like these (see attached photo that I stole from esty sorry if it's anyones here) I was just wondering if any one could explain the methods used to make similar to this style and tools needed before I go about it all wrong again haha..
    Many thanks
    Steve

I would imagine if that artist is on the forum they won't be best pleased at a copy :/ There is copyright to our designs which we hold dear. Have you thought about buying those ones for your girlfriend ?

I'm not sure copyright would apply to something as generic as a spinner ring though Caroline? I think it's probably one of the most common beginner pieces and there are something like 3000 listed on etsy!

Youtube would be a good place to start - here's a couple of options

Is that what it is George, I didn't see exactly so you are probably right! Getting bombarded on FB by people complaining about their work being copied all over the place. mine obviously isn't that special

    Hello
Caroline I understand what you are saying hopefully I don't upset anyone! I do not intend on copying this design I just was unsure on what the type/style of design was called and was finding it hard to describe in words hehe,
Brilliant thank you George just what I was after,
    Thanks both of you
    Steve

You weren't being precious at all Caroline - and I completely get where you're coming from. I'm not sure which I find worse actually, constantly having pieces copied, or being asked to copy big brand pieces 'for a bit less money as it's not the real thing' all the time....

Wow the latter would really annoy me. Double insult.
