I love the effect you've got with the cuttlefish to show off that beautiful opal. I have a load of cuttlefish at home, picked up off the beaches locally - you're inspiring me to have a go with them. Does anyone know, should they be well-rinsed before using to get rid of the sea salts? By the way, if anyone else wants one to play with, PM me - I'd be happy to send free of charge.

I hope you have a forgiving family, Alan. The smell will pervade the house. Dennis.

My partner's as good at making stink as I am - last time was burning flesh as she instinctively grabbed a hot glass bead straight from the flame when the mandrel slipped in her fingers... owch. And we've got a couple of smelly dogs coming to stay this week - Dim and Dimmer we call them, though not to the owners' faces. So I think I'll be in good company if I incinerate a few cuttlefish.

I like the texture and it's a lovely stone.

Beautiful - a great combination, much improved for being able to see it up close. Thank you!
